How Stock Reservations Work

Reservations prevent overselling. When an order is placed, stock is automatically reserved so it cannot be sold to another customer. No plugins, no manual holds -- it happens automatically.

The reservation lifecycle

  1. Order placed (Pending/On Hold) -- Fulfiro creates reservations for each line item. Reserved stock is deducted from the available count but remains on hand.
  2. Order paid (Processing) -- Reservations are "converted." On-hand stock decreases (stock is physically committed).
  3. Order cancelled -- Reservations are released. Stock returns to available.
  4. Reservation expired -- If the order sits in pending status too long, the reservation automatically expires. See Reservation Expiry.

What reservation status means

  • Active -- Stock is being held for this order
  • Converted -- The order was paid; stock has been deducted from on hand
  • Released -- The order was cancelled; stock returned to available
  • Expired -- The reservation timed out; stock returned to available

Configuring expiry

Go to Settings > Organization and set the Reservation Expiry period (default: 7 days, range: 1-90 days). See Reservation Expiry.
